The 11th Annual Kentucky Motorsports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place at the Owensboro Science and History Museum’s Speedzeum, which serves as home to the Kentucky Motorsports Hall of Fame. Green was honored along side both his brothers, David and Jeff, as well as Nicky Haden, Micheal Waltrip, Neil Tyler, Bill Clary, Jack Boggs and Tim Banks. “Being honored by your home town and state, is very exciting and humbling for me,” said Green. “What an honor to be mentioned with such influential people from my past and present.” Green began his racing career in 1973, racing go-karts in the Southern Indiana Racing Association. During his tenure, he won six consecutive championships. He then moved on to the late model division at several local speedways. Tracks where he competed included Nashville Speedway USA, Beech Bend Raceway, and Kentucky Motor Speedway. From 1988 to 1991, he also competed in the All-American Challenge Series. In 1993, he won 16 of 20 races at Beech Bend and won the track championships there, from 1991 to 1993. Green ran over 318 races in the NASCAR Busch Series, the current NASCAR Xfinity Series, garnering over 15 top-10s. Green semi-retired in 2011, joining Rev Racing full-time in 2012. Green has brought unmentionable impact to the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Program and to the young drivers in development at Rev Racing over the last 7 years. Green has always served as a tremendous resource for the team, sharing his vast knowledge of tracks and driver handling. Owner of Rev Racing, Max Siegel, promoted Green to the Director of Driver Development in the beginning of November. “The drive for Mark Green’s promotion, to head up our driver development bolsters Rev Racing’s program as the leader in driver and pit crew development,” said Max Siegel, owner of Rev Racing. “Rev Racing’s drivers and NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity Driver Development Program are the beneficiaries of one of NASCAR’s most experienced and accomplished talents in the sport.” Green will be leading the driver development of the selected NASCAR Drive for Diversity drivers, providing guidance, safety considerations, and track preparation, all while fostering an encouraging learning environment. “Being named head of driver development takes me back to my passion, which is the driving part of the sport,” said Green. “I look forward to working with our drivers and stepping up our overall performance at Rev Racing.” Rev Racing is set to announce their new driver class before the years-end, with Green preparing the team for the season-opener in February of 2019.
