Sanchez and Caruth on the hunt for Phoenix success

March 10, 2022

Concord, NC — Drivers Rajah Caruth and Nick Sanchez are just a day away from taking on a 150-lap race on the one-mile tri-oval in Avondale, Arizona. The General Tire 150 at Phoenix Raceway, the second race of the 2022 ARCA Menards Series (AMS) season, the first race of the ARCA Menards Series West season and the first event of this year’s Sioux Chief Showdown, is scheduled for this Friday, March 11th.

Both drivers are fresh off the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). Although Caruth and Sanchez did not garner the results they hoped for, they are laser focused on the remainder of the season. Both are looking to capitalize from their previous experiences at Phoenix and anticipate some top finishes over the weekend.

Nick Sanchez (No. 2 NTI/UTI Chevrolet): After one race in the AMS, Sanchez is currently 20th in point standings after experiencing a flat late in the race at DIS. Sanchez finished 3rd place in the 2021 AMS point standings with one win at Kansas Speedway and nine top 5s and 13 top 10s. Sanchez, having had some good runs at Phoenix, is certainly looking for redemption to shift the momentum of his season. In his first 2021 Phoenix experience, Sanchez was running comfortably in the top 5 when he got caught up with lap traffic and did not complete the race due to extensive damage from the accident. His second experience yielded a 4th place finish.

Sanchez will also make his debut in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this weekend, running the No. 5 Chevy Camaro with BJ McLeod Motorsports.

Rajah Caruth (No. 61 Max Siegel Inc. Chevrolet): Rajah Caruth making his second start at Phoenix, earned a top 10 finish in his first time at this track. Caruth finished 3rd in the ARCA Menards Series East 2021 point standings with two top 5s and five top 10s. He is currently 11th in the 2022 AMS point standings.

The General Tire 150 is set for this Friday at 5:30 p.m. MT / 7:30 p.m. ET, at Phoenix Raceway. The race will be shown live on MAVTV Motorsports Network with a live stream available on FloRacing. A radio broadcast of the race can be heard on MRN / SiriusXM (XM channel 391, online channel 981) / ARCARacing.com.
