Concord, NC — Rev Racing’s Youth Development Drivers are gearing up to compete in the 2022 U.S. Legend Cars Series as part of the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway, beginning next Monday, June 13th. The youth development program serves as an entry point into NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity Driver Development Program which was started in 2009 by Max Siegel. This year’s selected drivers will compete as year-long members on the team’s roster and will race in several INEX Legend Car events along with Rev Racing.

Rev Racing will field two drivers from its youth program, both of which are returning from last year’s 2021 roster. Andres Perez de Lara and Justin Campbell were both evaluated on historical success and previous on-track performance with a special focus on growth potential for future opportunities within the Team. The youth development program provides ongoing mentorship and guidance during this critical time in these young drivers careers.

“We continue to use our youth development model to connect with minority and female drivers at the earliest possible age,” said Max Siegel, Owner of Rev Racing. “The sooner we have the opportunity to work with these young athletes, we can support and position them for growth in the sport. We are thrilled to have these returning drivers and anticipate very successful outcomes throughout the season ahead, as they represent the future of NASCAR.”

Andres Perez de Lara, 17, joins the Rev Racing roster for his second season in 2022. This year, Perez de Lara will again pilot the U.S. Legend Car in the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway, as well as several other Legend Car events throughout the season. Perez de Lara garnered 2 top 10 finishes in the Shootout this past summer. Perez de Lara also ran in the NASCAR Mexico Challenge Series in 2021 where he garnered a 4th place finish in the Championship point standings.  Perez de Lara has already garnered his first victory of the year at Ecocentro de la Unión Ganadera in the NASCAR Mexico Challenge Series. He will pilot a U.S. Legends Car in the Semi-Pro class for Rev Racing in 2022.

Justin Campbell, 16, returns for his second season at Rev Racing. Born in Griffin, GA, Campbell got his start in racing at age 10. In 2016, Campbell and his family purchased his first Bandolero and began racing in the Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway’s infield road course. By the end of that first season of Thursday Thunder, Campbell garnered his first victory and has been racing ever since. In 2021, he earned 2 top 10 finishes in the Summer Shootout and will also compete in the Semi-Pro class for Rev Racing in 2022.

The first round of the Summer Shootout will take place at Charlotte Motor Speedway, beginning on Monday, June 13, at 5 pm E.T. A full schedule of events may be found on charlottemotorspeedway.com.
