Concord, NC (April 19, 2017) – For the second year in a row, Rev Racing will partner with the Autism Society of East TN in honor of Autism Awareness month. Rev Racing is more than excited to continue to carry out this mission. NASCAR has been a long-time supporter of Autism Speaks, the national organization for the cause. With this partnership, Rev Racing hopes to bring further awareness to this important subject.
A group from Autism Society of East TN, including staff, parents and children, will join Rev drivers at Bristol Motor Speedway on April 22nd. Children will meet with drivers, sign autographs, be up close and personal with the race cars, and have opportunities for photographs. Rev Racing will also run the organization’s logo on the hood of No. 42 car, manned by driver Jay Beasley. NASCAR has generously provided tickets to the kids, parents and directors of the organization so they can attend the race after the meet and greet.
“I feel extremely honored to be running the decal of the Autism Society of East TN on the hood of my car,” said Beasley. “Having the ability to bring awareness to the fans and put smiles on these kids faces is extremely rewarding.”
Both groups welcome these partnerships, as exposure and education assist in advancements for this cause every day. “The timing is perfect as April is Autism Awareness month and we just launched our new Autism Community Center at Beeson Hall in Johnson City,” said Melissa Keeler, Board Member of Autism Society of East TN. “We are providing educational, social and supportive services to anyone, child or adult, affected by autism at this facility. The Autism Society of East TN is very happy to partner with Rev Racing to promote autism awareness and acceptance in the local community.”
Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder that typically lasts throughout a person’s lifetime. It is part of a group of pervasive developmental disorders known as Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) that significantly affect how a person perceives the world, interacts with others, and communicates. It is estimated that as many as 1 out of every 68 children born today will be diagnosed with some form of ASD.
“It’s a privilege to be a part of Autism Awareness Month in this way and to provide this opportunity to families and children through Rev Racing,” said Siegel. “It will be a special race. I hope we can continue to be an avenue for exposure to racing and young people who are fulfilling their goals, like our drivers.”
